Mazda SuperCup for 2020

The (significant) highs and lows of the 2019 racing season are already ancient history. 2020 is here and we are only a few short weeks from the first race weekend of the year. About time too!

A lot has happened over the winter. The main change being that we have taken the decision not to defend the mark 1 title won during the dramatic final weekend at Silverstone, but rather to move over to the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 SuperCup, for the mark 3 cars.

Just about the only common ground the cars have is in name; otherwise they are totally different. The mark 3 has more grip from the Avon cut slicks, more power from the two litre engine, more noise, more adjustments to make and of course more speed!

The SuperCup runs alongside the mark 1 Championship, meaning we will once again be at eight race meetings in 2020, racing three times per weekend. You can see the calendar here.

We are also able to stay with the fantastic BLiNK Motorsport team, who have built us a new car over the winter, with the amazing support of The Perfect View.

I like to set goals at this time of year and while the testing I have done so far has gone well, I can see I have an awful lot to learn about these cars to get the most out of them. Last year the goal was very clear – to win the championship. This year it’s more of a sliding scale; finish a race, then a top five, a podium, a win… we will see how it goes.

I’m really looking forward to getting going; working with the BLiNK guys again, going to some great circuits, meeting up with friends and racing in a new championship. It’s going to be brilliant!

If you want to be involved and come along for the ride, you can learn more about becoming a partner here, or Back Me for only £250 here.

Thanks for reading. Here’s to 2020.
